Psychology? An internal reaction. But it's an internal reaction to EXTERNAL stimuli.

@beebrookshire Apart from the issue of overhead bins filling up before you get there, if I have a window seat, I like to board early so that I'm not causing or participating in the aisle-clogging musical chairs that ensues later in the boarding process as everyone arranges themselves and their stuff. Boarding later's a bit better if you have an aisle seat for similar reasons.
