Dungeon 23 is something I think about every day, and I think about it as that, even though I intend to create a #facility23 instead.
To recap, this is the brainchild of @seanmccoy, who posted about it here: https://seanmccoy.substack.com/p/dungeon23
I told myself I wasn't going to start until January 1. I mean, I don't even have a Japanese notebook yet! (Santa might bring me one tomorrow.) But I can't stop thinking about it, so I started to list some ideas. Not full room descriptions, just ideas. And then I added some themes to consider. Which led to some questions I had to think through, which...
Now I have a Scenario, The Brief, and some Warden's Notes, all for eventual players, as well as Implications, Room Ideas, and a "Think about" section for me as I create the facility, all of which led naturally to a list of "Baddies" and a growing "Backstory."
I don't have quick notes for a mega-dungeon, I've got extensive notes for an entire module!
As of right now, eight days before I'm "starting," I've got notes for a future MegaCorp (Chan Hong Co) that won salvage rights at auction for an ancient crashed alien ship that they, in their MegaCorp way, dubbed "Chan Hong Facility 23," and where they promptly set up shop for a combination of manufacturing, research, and salvage. Can you guess which of the three areas ended up sparking a cult? Or why?
I think I need to keep *some* things to myself for now, to avoid spoiling eventual game play. But I'll try to post what updates I can that don't spoil anything beyond early game play here on a semi-regular basis.
I'm also thinking about how I want to eventually present this. I'm a writer, not an artist! I do live with an artist, though. Still, I'm a writer. How narrative can I make this while still giving Wardens the flexibility they need to run games?

@hexedpress @seanmccoy posted about #dungeon23 originally, I linked that in my post, but I’m not creating a “dungeon,” but rather something set in the far future, in the world of #MothershipRPG. So instead of #dungeon23, I saw some people using #facility23 for non-dungeons using the same idea.
@pwinn haha, thanks for the info! Cool to see so many people taking this idea and spinning into something useful for their particular situations!
@hexedpress And of course I clicked through to your profile after answering, so clearly I could have skipped the first part about dungeon23. :)
