I was on a homicide trial jury in the spring of 2022, and the result was a hung jury because three of us didn’t think law enforcement proved the case. The defendant was just convicted in the follow-up trial. I’ll blog about this at some point; the difference between “likely” and “reasonable doubt” was important to me.

@bryantd This is quite a one-two punch, since I missed your first post on the subject.

Criminal justice is rarely just, and even when it is, it is really hard to feel satisfied. I know I should be glad when justice is served, I know I should. It’s just hard.
