🚨 BIG NEWS! 🚨
Updates about #GreatApe -- the Fediverse streaming audio / video service that I'm building with @reiver (and a team)!
1. We have successfully broadcast #GreatApe to 20 people distributed across North America. Some folks on the Fediverse were there to witness it!
2. We have wireframed a registration process for joining a #GreatApe instance
3. We have also wireframed a home feed and post UI/UX
4. We've developed an additional skin for #GreatApe video conferencing
/ Thread🧵
2/ The most important feature of #GreatApe is to successfully distribute a P2P stream of audio/video to a large group of people.
With a live audience of 20 people, we were able to successfully accomplish this.
With bots, we were able to distribute to 50.
How does the P2P distribution work?
It resembles a tree.
The broadcaster distributes to no more than two people.
Each of those two people distribute to two people in their own branches.
This reduces cost of audio/video distribution.
@atomicpoet This sounds amazing, and I can't wait to see larger-scale tests and sign up!
