Over on the other site, people keep telling me that a decentralized social media platform "could never" work. And yet... it is working?
"Too many tradeoffs" they tell me. There are tradeoffs, but when I add them up, they seem to favor the decentralized platform over the centralized one. So strange.
The only thing I miss is not being able to look up a URL or a text string, and find out what people are saying about it. If the results could be opt-in and/or anonymized there'd be no need or even the slightest temptation to birb ever again.
