I see the appeal of moving to a four-day work week (and am generally in favor of it), but I'm not sure I've seen anyone discuss whether kids would continue to go to school for five days a week or not. businessinsider.com/bernie-san

@PeterR Having now seen k-12 from three sides: as a student, as a parent of students, and as a parent of a teacher I’m going to suggest that school should continue with 5 days a week. This is good for student learning and teachers encounter issues even after once-in-a-while long weekends. And, as a parent having one day off work and without kids would take off so much pressure.

@SinclairLewis @PeterR Five-day school weeks would make teaching one of a number of jobs that either doesn't get to switch to a four-day work week (but hey, summer off, right?), or that schools have to start scheduling teachers like restaurants scheduling servers to ensure five-day coverage. Neither seems great!

That said, let not the perfect be the enemy of the good: four-day works weeks for everyone who can, and a raise for everyone who can't!
