Some #FediForum attendees simply "I'm hoping to learn more about the Fediverse".
How do we best support them? It's a bit of a broad question.

Projecting from personal exp: 1. How far does your post travel? 2. If you are involved in a conv thread, what if the range of your vision? 3. How do you avoid the blindspots? 4. How do I pick an app & instance? (People say pick any instance & you can migrate later. It is a lie for Mostodon. May be better w Akkoma? Calckey?) Like these
@aswath I have not attempted to migrate mastodon accounts. How is it a lie?
@J12t Migration is possible in a limited sense. New instance takes care of following the old set; same for lists (I think); Bookmarks & Fav are moved. Posts are gone. People who were following have to take explicit action to refollow. No ody says these. They just say it is easy to migrate. It is worse than PSTN -at least we have number portability there
I don't believe migration includes lists. It's essentially *only* your followers. The documentation suggests exporting everything.
It's brutal, but I guess marginally better than being blocked from single-owner social media.
