@foosel
Sure, if you can't find those things then it's useful.
If the things already exist and are readily available then it's pointless to go through this problem solving process since it's time consuming, requires focus and produces a costlier and less reliable version of something available.
@rastinza Personally I don't consider practicing CAD and feeling the accomplishment of successfully solving an issue "pointless", but you do you.
@foosel
I'm not saying what you should or should not do.
I never said it was a stupid thing to do, because that is not what I think.
We are misunderstanding each other.
What I'm saying is that this is not an optimal solution to this problem.
Would you advise this solution for the general people?
Would this approach be an appropriate way to supply people with these things?
I'm not complaining about what you did, I just pointed out that 3D printing is a prototyping methodology and very rarely it's appropriate for production.
@rastinza Nowhere was this post ever about mass production, supplying people with my solution or in any way, shape or form a case of "People, 3d printers solve everything!".
I specifically said that *I* got a printer a decade ago because I enjoyed the ease to solve issues around the house for *me* *myself*.
You saw it necessary to state this solution isn't suited for mass production. Which this post was never about. There might be a misunderstanding here, but it's not on my side.
@rastinza And the phrasing you used to make this point of yours that frankly is ill-fitted for this particular post in the first place was also unnecessarily negative ("pointless").
This post was an "hey, look, I solved an issue, I love when I can do it, it's fun!", not a general discussion on the suitability of 3d printers for mass production of durable solutions for everyone, and frankly, that's also not a discussion I'm interested in, as I've had it for over a decade now, from your side btw
@foosel
I'm sorry if you feel offended somehow or didn't like what I wrote; that was not my intention.
@rastinza pretty much impossible to get something like this that *fits* as perfectly as this in a store... at least I've never seen it anywhere, and I looked hard both offline and online.
And besides, this kinda misses the point of the whole "problem - making - solution" cycle that this was about.
