I'm sick of petroleum products. Knock it off. Make things out of something else. Has anyone tried soap? Maybe that'd work
@matt I had a chem prof who had a colleague working on finding viable replacements for petroleum products. Right now there's some stuff that just has to be plastic giving our current understanding of chemistry, but it's being worked on and researched.

It's not that stuff compulsory has to be made out of plastic, you have a bunch of other materials you could use, and all of them work terribly for modern applications.
Finding an alternative to plastics is quite a complex challenge, it will be easier for now to find a way to produce plastics without petroleum.
This is rather important, since we strongly rely on plastics and we need them also when petroleum finishes.
Moreover, we will need petroleum for other things which might be considered more important, such as medicines.
