I don't think literally using git to track publications was the main point he was trying to make though.
Just the idea of a system to keep track of versions and reviews.
Bare git would definitely not work for the purpose.

True. It was more on an abstract level. There are many aspects that are probably overshooting what is needed. Others fall short. Just some of the principles that I see when working with code seem applicable and relevant to me, that’s what I wanted to discuss. I am also not sure if all commits in branches need to be tracked. And at other points one could argue, if this isn’t also a waste of resources in terms of sustainability.
