New Danish cars are now majority electric.
2023 sales data shows gasoline cars are most popular (45.8%), closely followed by pure electric BEVs (42%). Since diesel car sales have practically stopped, plug in hybrids bring the total market share of electric cars to 51.4%, a majority for the first time ever.
The shift is caused by BEV price drops led by Tesla and increased taxes on diesel cars.
