@schock “Yes and.” Complex systems operate on multiple scales simultaneously, and while we’re addressing root causes, the effects of those causes are usually still themselves causing inefficiency, harm, injustice, etc. in the immediate term. As timebound beings who can’t do everything all at once, the best we can do as far as I know is iterate — rhythmically address short-term and long-term, like the monk who must keep his full attention on his destination and also on his next step.
