Do companies still use personas? I was put off by it as lazy caricatures after seeing Microsoft’s use of Mort, Elvis & Einstein for VB, C# & C++ developers in the 2000s.

@carnage4life I’m writing a paper right now that tries to get to the heart of what personas can be, both for product development and for research. After using them for years in industry, I can say they need a few things going for them if they’re going to work — the one that I think teams miss most often is they need to be *iterative*, just like your software. Every user test, every A/B test, every analytics report: see what new stuff it tells you about your persona and update that puppy!
