@ai6yr Also, you're nice and warm. They like that.
In my youth I was terrified of bees and wasps, but got over it completely in adulthood. I kept a hive of bees when I lived in Florida. Absolutely fascinating. Domestic bees really are domestic. I had a friend who advised me through all of it. They got to know me, recognize me. I spent countless hours sitting close (really close) to the entrance to the hive watching all the activities. When the temperature got cold, I'd cook up sugar syrup for them to eat. A simple bowl didn't work. They'd fall in and get stuck. So I made ramps for them to go down to the syrup and be able to get back out if they did fall in.
If you had told me 50 years ago that someday I would do all that, I would have died laughing. Not in a million years would that ever happen.
@shuttersparks Oh yeah, they absolutely figure out you are a beekeeper and don't mind you at all. (provided they'don't clumsily get tangled in your hair, that is!) Yes, very cold today, definitely looking for a warm spot (me).
