This entire Elon's #Twitter saga is the most ludicrous thing I've seen since "The Star Wars Holiday Special".

@lauren It's so far over the top that I'm glad I don't have to describe it to someone. I wouldn't know where to start.

It's been one of those "you had to be there" kind of things.

@shuttersparks I probably will need to summarize this on my radio segment tomorrow night. Oh yeah, that will be lots of fun.

@lauren Oh boy. Good effing luck. But that's why they have a pro like you and not an easily tongue-tied one like me doing the show. Lol.

If I had to do it, I'd give it a lot of thought and make notes. There's way too much craziness to cram into three minutes.

@shuttersparks With tricky ones like this I will usually write up dense notes that are essentially a script. Every word can matter with controversial topics though I do tend to vary a bit along the way, especially since the exact intro I get may affect it. More evergreen topics are much more relaxed. Of course, if there's a followup discussion with the host that's always a "wing it" situation, but I'm fairly good at that I suppose.

@lauren Yes you are. It's a talent that I don't have. Condensed summarization has always been difficult for me.

I was curious though whether you ever made notes. I sure would, but that's me.

@shuttersparks The main issue is time. Occasionally I'll do the full first two hours, and then there is plenty of time to play with. If a specific topic runs into an ad break or a network break we can continue it afterwards. And the conversations go all over the place. And if there are callers they can ask pretty much anything. So really there are no notes at all to speak of.

But those weekly Monday news segments are much more constrained. Not to the second or anything like that but I need to get everything in within a reasonable span of time because there's more stories that come after me, and since I'm virtually always the first segment during the news on Mondays (and so the first segment on the show) the more time I take the less time for the following segments before the first break. So having some notes is important otherwise I could ramble on, not cover all the important points, and the clock would really be wrecked, so to speak.

@lauren Understood. I'd be much more comfortable doing 30 minutes or longer. Trying to cram into three minutes without being misunderstood is something else.
