Several stories lately about how Mastodon active users count is down. Yesterday Eugen Rochko @Gargron stated:
"Mastodon bumps up the active user count when a user logs on, including right after sign up. I’m not surprised the monthly active user number is coming down a bit..."
This raises a question. Are active users ONLY bumped when a user logs on? Many users, perhaps most, do not ever log out, they simply just stay logged in. Are we undercounting active users?
