Yes, Ron is escalating from "I'm going to punish you for criticising my agenda" to "I'm going to force you to vocally support me and mine," all through the coercive power of the state.

@shuttersparks With all due respect (i.e., minimal) to Elmo, DeSantis is doing it wielding the power of the state. That makes him a few orders of magnitude more dangerous.
@three_star_dave But only locally. Elmo's actions affect over a billion people.
Even so, I agree with you from a U.S. point of view and was going to mention the difference you point out, but didn't.
