BBC: Storms ravage northern Italy as Sicily burns "Meanwhile, northern regions are reeling from violent storms and high winds that uprooted trees and lifted roofs off buildings. In some places, tennis ball-sized hailstones injured people, damaged cars and destroyed crops... Lombardy and Veneto experienced torrential rainfall and extremely strong winds, which reached 100km/h (62mph) in Milan. (imagined) "Dear Sis: We've been here in Milan for a week, taking a vacation to Italy was a great idea! Unfortunately the Sforza Castle was closed, it was SOOO frustrating they wouldn't open it for us. And they have such poor tree trimming here, there were trees all over the sidewalk. Plus, their city council really needs to work on street drainage. Wish you were here!" #PostcardsFromTheAnthropocene
@ai6yr I don't go to other countries in order to eat at McDonalds. However, when traveling I will visit a McDonalds at least once in a country in order to observe the subtle differences and to see how well they're doing at their corporate goal of providing the same food at every McDonalds in the world. There are usually some local menu accommodations that I find interesting. For me it's an insight into the local culture.
Also, McDonalds is often useful for the same reason it's useful here. If I'm travelling on a road trip with a group, family, or other gang of people, McDonalds is a great place to stop and refuel without wasting time.
So, might you find me in a McDonalds in Milan? Absolutely.
