‘Not What Democracy Looks Like’: TN GOP Lawmakers Order Police to Remove Silent Protestor From Pro-Gun Hearing

Tenn House Rep holding a hearing on legislation to allow guns in schools ordered state troopers to physically remove a woman who was silently protesting by holding a small sign

The protestors in the House Judiciary Committee’s Civil Justice hearing sat quietly holding signs that read, “1 kid > all the guns” (one kid is greater than all the guns)

@GW @antonioserrata Reminds me of Russian anti-war protesters being hauled off for holding blank signs.

Hopefully these types will start to ask themselves . . . Are we the baddies?

@bplein @GW They won't or they would've by now. They are happy with the power they have so they do the mental gymnastics (unless they're sociopaths in which case they DGAF) that they're in the right. That's the problem the brainwashing of the right wing has caused to many. BUT many just want power for power's sake. They want dominion over the rest of us. That should say it all. They have no interest in equality or rights for others. Just a life of privilege for themselves.

@antonioserrata @GW It surprises me that Ellison and Zuckerberg haven’t tried to whitewash their existence by putting on a show about caring for Hawaii.

It’s almost as if they’ve calculated that it doesn’t matter anymore.

@bplein @GW To be fair Zuckerberg has put some money towards Maui. I'm no fan of Zuckerberg, but at least he's doing that much. I don't think he even owns property there. His property is in Kauai AFAIK. BUT credit to them doing that at least. Ellison is a known asshole and that doesn't surprise me. Zuckerberg has donated to various causes in the past, so there's SOME humanity there at least worth encouraging.

@antonioserrata @GW I know where his property holdings are. Just as Lanai isn’t Maui, Kauai isn’t Maui. But both are significant landowners who have hoovered up giant landholdings in Hawaii, in opposition to native Hawaiian interests.

I’m glad Z has donated. As the others noted in your link have done (thank you for the link). So that answers my question in part!

@bplein @GW Notable bit under his section of the article is that he's BEEN donating through his foundation, so it's nothing new here, just more of it. There are people in need (largely because people like him made it obscenely expensive to live there) , BUT at least he's doing something, would prefer they tax the shit out of the billionaires tho. They basically just hoard money for bullshit reasons. Too many suffer because of their actions or lack of.

@antonioserrata @bplein
There is the truth, I just dislike that those obscenely wealthy oligarchs get positive press when they are skating on paying their way.
