The fuck kind of headline is that, The Independent?

“OLD Biden has told Zelensky US will give Ukraine long-coveted ATACMS long-range missiles, report says”

@aral

Old Biden. Dark Biden. Don't care.

As long as Ukraine gets what it needs to regain every inch of its territory.

@Npars01 @aral It might be better for the Democrats to run a younger candidate if they want to be able to win and continue supporting Ukraine. There is, after all, a whole year till the election, five months till the primaries...

@TomSwirly @Npars01 @aral It might, but I doubt it. Americans vote for names they recognize, household names. This fact is what enables the media to play kingmaker by deciding who gets discussed and who doesn't. This tactic doesn't work with Biden because he's the President and the most well-known democrat in the country. The media can't "disappear" him by not mentioning or discussing him.

@shuttersparks @Npars01 @aral Obama was not, in fact, a household name when he won the nomination. Clinton was not, in fact, a household name when he got the nomination.

On the other hand, today Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg are perfectly well-known.

With most of the country united on the fact he is too old, Biden seems certain to lose.

@TomSwirly @Npars01 @aral Obama was a notable exception. The Democrats ran him and won because 1) they knew that hatred for Bush and his policies was widespread and intense, 2) Biden was the running mate.

@shuttersparks @Npars01 @aral As I pointed out, Clinton was also unknown before he became President, I remember his campaign well.

As I also pointed out, Elizabeth Warren, Pete Buttigieg are perfectly well-known.

Over 3/4 of Americans think Biden is too old, 2/3 of Democrats!

@TomSwirly @Npars01 @aral However, none of this relates to my point, which is that the media make the decision of whose name gets mentioned constantly and whose name is suppressed. By well-known, I mean constantly mentioned in the media or not. This is a decision made by the media.
