@karlauerbach @LadyDragonfly Yes, your point is well taken. But given where society is evolving from, I go with it because people are at least talking about it instead of hiding gender issues in the closet. It's not like this is a new thing. It's part of being human for the past zillion years. Not talking about it or pretending it doesn't exist doesn't do anyone any good.
@beaq @karlauerbach @LadyDragonfly Hah! Bottom line is it gets conversation going. The problem is getting people to talk about it at all instead of remaining in their belief-bubble.
When I have an opportunity, I use the term cis-male to refer to myself in the hope of triggering a reaction, "Duh, what dat mean?"
@shuttersparks @karlauerbach @LadyDragonfly Not necessarily, but if you haven't tried to talk about flying squirrels *and* rats in a world that only hears "rat" when you say "rodent," and you haven't been met with squeals of outrage when you specify "rat" because they prefer "rodent," or even better, "normal rodent" (as opposed to all the weird or special or fungible rodents) then perhaps you are a bit sheltered. Or possibly just a normal rodent.
