What they said:
"I've sat out elections before. I will sit this one out."

What they mean:
"I'm an entitled, privileged person who'll be safe no matter who wins. I'm also completely apathetic about the harm caused to others. That's why I'm a fickle nonvoter."

@TruthSandwich And in the past it was very easy in the USA to be an apathetic voter and trust things would be okay. Thirty years and longer ago you could trust Americans to vote their pocketbook (rational self-interest) and safely assume that anyone reaching high political office was patriotic, educated, and rational. Otherwise, for various reasons, they would not have been tolerated in the halls of government.

But that's all in the past. We now have voters who act like cult members and do not vote their self-interest, and we have candidates that are outright criminals.

It's not the same game. Can't sit this one out and assume everything will be basically okay.

@shuttersparks

Right, it would be lazy if the available choices were all roughly the same. But since they're radically different, it's not just lazy, it's something far more apathetic and hostile.

@TruthSandwich Yes. I just hope people see that the game has changed and the players have changed.

@shuttersparks

Nothing has changed. The far left was never going to vote for Biden. Never. Not even to stop Trump.

And they want to discourage Biden voters by associating him with "genocide".

These people are left-wing Trumpers; accelerationists.
