His partner was Walter Naegle. As to being in the closet, he and Dr. King had a conversation about that: didn't bother Dr. King that Rustin was gay, but he didn't want it to become a public issue for the civil rights campaigns.
@tuban_muzuru @lovelylovely MLK was well-read and educated. If you are sufficiently educated, then you understand something about human sexuality, that goes back a million years or more, and how it works.
Being gay is a non-problem. It's part of the design. If it wasn't, then it would have been flushed out of the gene pool looong ago. But it wasn't. That's all you need to know.
