i have come to a very dialectical and Machiavellian understanding of Christianity due to listening to AA's stream series about paganism vs christianity. basically the neo-platonist pagan guy he had on was contending that it's actually Christianity that is the real "might makes right" group (real meaning) but the formal meaning is a whole fleet of tricks pretending that it's really all about meekness and humility etc. if it were really meek it wouldn't have survived. i don't think Christianity is one thing, it is incredibly elastic and culturally chameleonic. also it claims to reject the existing material world in favor of the kingdom of god that comes after, yet all its actions in the present world are deeply political, power jockeying. there are contradictions and double meanings from every angle i consider it.
