I used to worry about how I felt about my body, as if I'm supposed to feel something with my body. I don't worry about it so much now. Mostly because I don't think it is realistic of me to expect to feel comfortable with my body. I think my anxiety about it came from the expectation that I am supposed to feel something, to feel connected to and comfortable with my body.

But if reality has taught me anything, it is that my body is just there. What I feel from my body is the signals to get me to maintain my body, think about being hungry or needing to sleep here. Those types of things. It also lets me be aware of my surroundings or that gravity is acting upon me. That something is wrong, which is why I feel pain or shivers. My body is brilliant in this way, brilliant at keeping me alive even. In all the many and small ways this happens.

So when I start thinking about feeling disconnected from my body, I gently remind myself that it is okay to feel this way. That I don't have to expect to feel some other way. And other time, it helps to ease those thoughts.

(Me now: Our bodies are amazing, aren't they?)

@skells Yeah. I've tried it a few times but I'm not sure if I've done it properly before. I keep meaning to get into weightlifting and to keep it consistent.
@hakui @skells Yeah, I have found that consistency is the key for grounding.
