Fascinating that some fans use #doctorwho viewing figures to whine about a drop in appeal or quality .. yet 'The Traitors' was praised for being a massive hit for the BBC when its finale achieved about a million less viewers than the latest season's average for DW.
@snuffleorc Ratings have never been an accurate description of quality, only marketing, scheduling and other events. It's a convenient coincidence when masses see good stories or hardly anyone sees poor stuff, nothing more. The McCoy era is not bad because it averaged 4 or 5 million. It's mostly very, very good. The Chibnall era is not bad because of 3 million viewers. It's bad for a multitude of other reasons. ;)
@cliffchapman Agreed. Jodie had a very high proportion or ratio of bad to good stories and it's not her fault.

@snuffleorc Not sure they have much bearing on recommissions now, nor do I think Who has been in any danger for years. Whether a lot of people watch something or don't watch something isn't as important as the appreciation figures, comments and discussions about it - and with a brand change rather than cancellation always the likely result. The biggest threat was incompetence; fortunately they've now ditched that. (*Him)
