@Narcissus any linux installer CD/USB image should do. Just go through the installation process, but quit after the partitioning step. There will be other variations like rescue CD/USB images.
@Narcissus trying it out would mean a live CD/USB, a step up from an installer. If you have an OS in mind, its installer would give you a way to partition disks to install on. If the new OS is not starting after a reboot and unplugging of the installation USB drive, it could be for any reason. Posting the observed behaviour might get some responses.
@tetrislife Are you saying to 'try out' the OS and then partition from there?
Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've tried this with 3 different OS and all of them _seem to work_ until I restart my computer 😅
