If there is a cave of snakes, and the snakes are coming out of the cave and attacking you, perhaps it would be a more effective use of your time to do something about the cave instead of constantly fighting one snake after another. The snakes will just keep coming, and while you are busy fighting them, the snake-cave builder is building another snake cave.
