@mgeist The headline reads like hyperbole considering the body of the article says: "The CRTC does not directly regulate the prices for most telecom services in Canada, so Telus’s application only applied to a small subset of customers. "

Doesn't sound like this is going to make much difference to most people unfortunately. Unless Telus is somehow dissuaded by the small side dish of sabre-rattling the CRTC served up: "But the regulator issued a warning to the telecom industry that it would take action if the practice of imposing a credit card surcharge to customer bills persists. "

Guess we'll see. Not going to hold my breath though!
