@freemo

Hello Dr Freemo,

I really don't know if that could be going on Discourse.

Don't hesitate to let me know either way.

Enjoy your week-end.

At home it feels 🐸 ☔

@globcoco @freemo This could really help anyone who is studying via distance learning for whatever reason.

It is easy to lose your way, (esp during the current pandemic) due to lack of social or general contact with others.

@zleap @freemo

Btw, so glad that Open Learn is made available b/c if not I definitely would not be able to undertake any courses there.
Thinking about doing one on
The role of diagnosis in counselling and psychotherapy

Keep exploring...

@globcoco @freemo The nice this is you can try out the course.

It's a shame they got rid of the 10 point courses, they did cost around £150 each, but at least I got to do a certificate in science by completing 6 when i was able to.

Courses are just too expensive in one go.

@zleap @freemo

They are! The price tags I saw were b/w £3000 and 20000...
Why did they got rid of the point courses?
Do you know if they have an alternative?
Quite a few online courses have mellowed their price due to Covid.
Maybe they did the same...

@globcoco @freemo It was when the government brought in higher tuition fees, so maybe the rules changed on what they could offer,
£20k would be for a full degree i guess, where as £3000 is per course, which is probably equivalent to a year at uni.

@globcoco @freemo One of the things I don't really want to promote on the forum is things like this

eatthatfrog.ac.uk/empowering-e

Only open to 18-24 year olds. I feel anything we promote should be open to anyone of any age.

After all there are code of conducts within free software projects about equality.

So sure there may be some lower age limits but no upper age limits.

Not sure if this is the right way to go about things, but I just feel everything these days is about Young people and after a certain age you're on a sort of scrap heap

@zleap @freemo
I agree with you.

Just wondering if they focus on this age range because they can give them specialized teaching with a lot of attention to get their energy channeled...

They seem to help these kids who are excluded to get their confidence building.

But yes we may also need this.

On that note, there is something that I really want to do.
You can check it out here:
movnat.com/
They are open to anyone no matter your age and that would definitely help me get back into shape.
I heard about them a few years ago and life went on as always.
I got to see other videos of a woman who is a biomecanician and who helps the elderly get into shape that would shock youngsters

Movnat and her are actually working together.

By the way I hope I'm not yet scrap heap material👵 !

Follow

@globcoco @freemo I think that is why they have courses for that age group.

If we list stuff that is open to all, we also avoid falling in to a trap and being accused of discrimination.

@zleap @freemo
If you talk about movnat, they are not thinking of discrimination.
Their goal is to get back into mobility.
I really liked this woman's story:
movnat.com/audrey-success-stor

@globcoco @freemo Sounds good, what we should be promoting, and there is a link between a healthy body and healthy mind - essential for study

@zleap @freemo
Definitely!
Look I have to go to bed but I feel that what I've been researching all these years (2000 pages) are going to be VERY useful!!!
I actually want to write a book on it and help people with that.
My heart is singing!
Bonne nuit.

@globcoco @freemo sure we can carry on tomorrow,

Bonne nuit too ( I understand some French at least)
