@yogthos @zleap the question i have is, how much of the right would welcome them? there is a lot of anger over how big tech has been acting as a propaganda and ideological enforcement apparatus for the liberal elite, but at the same time, americans of all stripes seem utterly unable to resist the allure of "mainstream" recognition or support (this is how unions were eventually defanged). i have no idea how that would turn out

of course, that even presumes red vs. blue are the sides that will matter in any conflict. i think both will vanish very quickly, everything from race war to hispanic narcostates to pure chaos is possible but i think it's extremely unlikely the right wing, let alone the left wing (these people can barely look at firearms without screaming and calling the police ffs), would be able to endure any kind of sustained offensive once things actually get war-grade violent.

the right has some level of preparation and of course many guns, but in terms of putting violence to effective use, that Rittenhouse kid has done more than anything the entire right-wing movement has accomplished in decades at the very least. vast majority of the far-right are just utterly clueless larpers who think that screaming matches over obscure points of nazi mysticism are Praxis. republican-grade rightists are either confused boomers (the Mostly Peaceful® protest on 1/6, where the only serious violence was one woman being murdered by a cop, killed a couple decrepit boomers from excitement alone; imagine sending that demographic into actual battle with their spectacles and dentures and diabeetus pills and all), or greedy, cowardly vultures who just to be able squeeze every last drop of blood out of their employees, and who would use their own wives and children as human shields if it came down to it. veterans are the only ones i can think of who might be relevant as combatants in any significant number, and i don't think necessarily many of them will be interested in doing more than protecting them and theirs. i could very easily be wrong, but that's what the murmurs i've heard from vets would seem to indicate so far. of course, if veterans do start taking up arms and training combat-age men to fight, that's a whole different ballgame, and it's well within the realm of possibility.

(there are some migrant populations in the US that might be relevant here; e.g. Koreans are famous for capably defending themselves, and first-gen hispanics who aren't involved with drug trafficking are a pretty street-wise bunch who don't fuck around when it comes to protecting one another and aren't really that involved with any of the local tribalist squabbling, besides the occasional opportunist. i doubt we'll see more from them than ethnic enclaves defending themselves against marauding blacks or wannabe white nationalist death squads. obviously there are some Russians around as well, tho i don't know how significant their numbers are.)

people talk about the recent onslaught of anti-white and anti-asian hate crimes by blacks and holler that there's a "war" on us, and it's kind of darkly funny because it just shows how little experience or understanding of war americans have. there is so very far yet to fall.)
@yogthos @zleap oh, obvious point i failed to make about big tech bc i'm a moron: tech has this thing where it kinda needs electricity to function, and it's hard to imagine much US infrastructure remaining operational in the event of large-scale unrest. once the power's out, facebook and the rest are utterly irrelevant and everyone who can afford to will flee as fast as their twerpy little legs can carry them

Tech in general is at the mercy of the power grid.
