@mia @zleap

Ok the bug is: sometimes when right clicking on items in the system tray, the menu takes long to open, then it feels like the whole plasmashell freezes, and some time later hundreds of context menus appear on top of one another, so you get this thick black steadily growing and darkening shadow, everything else becomes unresponsive. The only way out is to kill plasmashell (i didn't find how to restart it afterwards) or reboot from another TTY

@piggo@piggo.space @zleap@qoto.org okay, what kind of item are you right clicking on? do you know if it has native status notifier support (i.e. a KDE/gnome or modern qt application) or uses x11 windows for the systray (and has to go through the status notifier item proxy)?

@mia @zleap Oh I have no idea, I think it was the Jetbrains Toolbox app, but I'm not sure it's not happening for others. It's not happening always, either. A really "good" bug. Versions are whatever is in arch currently, probably 5.23.2 (it upgraded to 5.23.3 today)
@mia @zleap Oh, I should add that it's not happening specifically to the menu on the thing I clicked. it seems to break for every context menu on the panel, eg when you try to right click elsewhere after the reaction starts, the other menus get broken too.

@piggo @mia Ok not a dev expert but that does sound like a serious problem.

I do understand how you feel with regard to forums though, some forums are great, others are great if you find the right person but can be a nightmare in terms of getting people to actually take notice of problems from end users.

The rudeness people get is not needed but also reflects badly on the community at large.
