I feel that 2022 should be "The Year of Bonding" for the fedi.
With that I mean on one hand to get more community collaboration ongoing, tighter social bonds. And on the other hand we need to attend to interoperability, the technical bonds that hold the fedi together.
On both sides there's weakness now.

Yes, I am moderator (@aschrijver) and spent quite a bit of time to point out these weaknesses. Wrote several longer articles. But with limited results. Everyone seems too busy, too focussed on own projects, or not seeing the needs as urgent as I do, apparently.

Currently the SocialHub itself is in need to have more lively interaction. I feel currently we are not ready to do much SIG work.

If we can get non technical people on board, such as those who deal with e-safety, mental health etc, we could get input from them too.
This was my intention. And I created #FediverseFutures section for it, to be more non-technical, and with a companion brainstorming space on #Lemmy at https://lemmy.ml/c/fediversefutures
And @PaulaToThePeople started the https://fediverse.town community specifically for that purpose. We can closely cooperate between communities in this.

It all depends on eyeballs and interaction.
You will not believe how many eyeballs you get by covering your vehicle in a few corflute signs. If you do that people see the name. Most people need to see a name at least three times.

It has been a solid year, we only wish that we could've done more.
Trump adopting Fediverse tech is a good sign, in our view. Thin end of the wedge is now in place. It actually does signify the beginning of something good, but we need to keep getting the word out.
Our fediFlyer should be updated to the new fun design, omit heart on front, omit speech bubble about instabook and replace with "Trump's social platform is built on Fediverse code?!"

Indeed and there was a post citing boss of Lush saying they would be happy to lose 10 million if they could stay off facebook.
I think the tide is turning, we just need to keep going.
On Trump I just hope the media don't imply that the Fediverse is all trumps work,

Yes but we can't igmore the fact hje is using AGPL code, and has removed the AGPL license and said it is propitiatory,
