@rixty_dixet I think people have become obsessed with money, and wanting to be the centre of attention, there was a post linking to an article on narcissistic behaviour a while back.
I will stick to the fediverse as it seems far more friendly, not obsessed with money or profits and there is an actual desire for governance for everyone's benefit.
How we convince the masses of that is a different matter, in the mean time lets just build a community that is strong.
We are all humans but I think here we are holding on to something more valuable , ethical and moral values and a sense of community.
At least we can have a laugh when facebook or other internet services go down and users starts to panic thinking the whole internet has broken.
Here mastodon.social goes down and the best comment is about this happens and we should give the admin time to fix it.
It helps less when local services from the council, there are meetings ON facebook so there is an assumption either everyone uses it, or everyone wants to use facebook.
You just pay for facebook with data, tracking and user information being collected for profit, exploitation etc.
many can use facebook without paying for the connection in their phone profile, so for them facebook = internet...
and this is a big problem that we underestimate, "teasing" them
