I agree. Most of us would prefer to avoid harming others.

When reason breaks down, violence results.

Also the crisis is too far away for many to see.

You have to kind of research obsessively to get any depth on it.

Luckily I have, for some decades now.

@amerika @wildgoose my general impression is that humans cope poorly with diversity. we may wish to have it, but when it’s implemented, it causes problems. i think this is unfortunate, because i’d like us to live in peace. however, in practice, it doesn’t work that way, and assuming that it can be made to work that way is dangerous.

perhaps a compromise is possible. i don’t know.

I remember a photo on fedi a few years ago 2 children playing ona makeshift sea saw, on the IUS / Mexico border fence,.

My comment was hat children just see children as other children and just play together, it is adults who see people through their color, religion etc, and treat people differently

When i was about 10/11 we visited my mums pen friend in France, she had a son about same age as me, we played for hours, me speaking in England, him in French, I don't think we understood each other, but that didn't stop us playing.

If only it were that simple!

Groups exist for a reason, and allow for cultures.

Cultures differ based on the needs who have them.

The problem of diversity is not based on personal enmity, but the need to have a social order that fits each group.

Most of our diversity violence here is between members of ethnic minorities.

Usually territorial spats.

They played together as kids, and end up on slabs together as young adults.
