Has anyone on here looked at or have any direct wxperience using the sifive RISC V motherboards? Looking for a more powerful home machine and thinking about going this route instead of AMD or Intel.

Watching @pdp7 presentations on the current status of RISC-V ecosystem and available boards/emulators/Soft-Core should provide useful information.

It should be noted that RISC-V is still at its early development stages and many boards/chips are produced at very small numbers with extremely expensive methods. Such boards are more directed at developers.

@AliMirjamali @zleap I'm gonna have to watch this tomorrow morning, but I definitely understand things can be more expensive in these stages. I hope they can either seriously boost performance or get those costs down. I don't know how they can ever break into a market owned so thoroughly otherwise.

It just seems like 700 is incredibly cost prohibitive for many developers especially when you still need to buy all the peripherals to build out a full computer. It would likely be over a grand by the time it's all said and done and if a pi4 can outperform it I don't know how I could justify it. I would just by a SBC if I can't get real desktop or laptop performance out of it.
