@LearnTribe@mastodon.scot The UK home office is an embarrassment,
I can sign up to freecodecamp and can learn from anywhere in the world, however I get emails from free code camp from time to time about courses run by institutions all over the world (even China and the UK) which I or anyone can sign up to.
At least this just proves parallel realities, one for the rest of us, the other one for politicians and government departments.
@zleap
The home office must have been shaped over more than a decade by the single overarching goal of keeping people off the island.
I find it hard to imagine that a lot of humanists-at-heart would still work there.
I bet all they can think about now is whether refusing stuff to "those people" is permissible by law, independent of whether it's otherwise smart, let alone humane.
Also, they prolly want students to pay costs of living in Britain, on top of the crazy fees. Win-win!
