Facebook/Meta/what-the-heck-ever laid off 15% of its workforce this week. Jason Scott had an amazingly sharp statement in response to this that was, in essence "you all deserved this".

I have trouble disagreeing despite typically feeling that employment is a coercive relationship. A lot of those people were probably in roles that they could have taken somewhere else.
I think I'll opt to continue blaming the system and execs here.

I get the impression Meta ? Facebook are going to focus on specific projects, so some need to fall by the wayside.
I just don't agree with the way they go about these things, but it is the USA, they can.
