@Gargron and all the top #Mastdodon instances need to start preparing for the idea that Twitter itself is on a relative fast route to bankruptcy. 💣
Need Mid-term plans for how the top instances can scale dramatically on hardware, stat. And streamlined onboarding of new users choosing instances to spread the user load.
As a community NOW we need to encourage everyone who is thinking about it to start their own instance. This is coming.
@tchambers @Gargron @atomicpoet @leolaporte @elipariser @profcarroll if a decent fraction of Twitter users tries to move to Fedi, we'll also need to rewrite a lot of the communication and file-sharing infrastructure, otherwise the small and middle-size instances will never be able to bear the load.

Hopefully more people will be setting up their own instances for friends / family etc. As discussed business certainly should.
