I've just discovered that there's a petition on the #UK government petitions website to remove #LGBT content from the curriculum, effectively resurrecting the horrendous Section 28 from the 1980s.
There is also a counter-petition. As of this morning, the remove petition has over 178,000 signatures, the counter-petition has just over 2,500 signatures.
Please sign the counter-petition.

The number of people signing the petition to stop teaching abiut LGBTQ in schools is over 180k or was Monday evening shocking that really.
While we should not speculate as to the reasons, perhaps back in the 80s people who were LGBTQ were around just not in the public eye as much. We then had the George Floyd murder and from that black lives matter, from this was an awakening that minority groups had numbers, those numbers had a voice and the groups that seek to abuse those communities see it as a threat as people question their retoric.
Add to all this the rise of the fedi, where those who are marginalised can feel safe, connected and are able to coordiate efforts with others.
For the bigots, the days when they could simply abuse people are fading as people are fighting back hard.
@zleap @RPBook It's horrible. In the Netherlands it's not that bad (yet) but it's not like it was before either.
