@SrRochardBunson @stu @tehstu I started with a Raspberry Pi 4 and it worked fine until I needed to handle video (which killed the SOC) or host a Minecraft server (which killed the RAM). So I think as long as you're not doing transcoding or handling large amounts of data, a Pi-like computer should be enough.

Speaking of alternatives, there are plenty like the Rock64 or ODROID-N2. The biggest problem with thems is the software support, because there's almost non-existent community compared to Pi.

Which Pi 4 are you using i think the basic one has 2gb ram where the top end one has 8gb, should be enough

or is minecraft just bloated, ?

@zleap @SrRochardBunson @stu @tehstu I was using the top-of-the-line 8GB one. Even with a comparatively lightweight server, it ate up 7GBs of RAM with just two players online.

@zleap @SrRochardBunson @stu @tehstu I've never hosted Minetest, so you'll have to try yourself 😄 But I know it will be much less resource-intensive.
