Trump had bananas in both ears for whatever he didn't want to hear, was mainlining bleach, pretending to be healthy, and calling Covid the Kung Flu. Can't imagine why the generals wouldn't want to inflame his insanity by giving him an excuse for war.

To be fair when he said he would order the bombing of Iranian cultural / historical sites, if Iran attacked US ships in the region, his generals told him rather robustly NO.
