The shitty state of search engines these days is complicating my exit from Twitter. I could go to the extra work of combing the web myself to find the news I used to get from Science Twitter and Disability Twitter, but the search engines are horrible and steer people only to a few sites.
I ditched Meta products 5 yrs or more ago so finding community there isn't a good option.
I'm really angry at what corporations have done to the Internet over the decades.
Hopefully fedi can be a good news source for all different topics
@zleap It hasn't been the case so far, sadly. I understand it takes some work and I've been putting the work in. However, I think in designing something somewhat inspired by the birdsite, yet without QTs and better methods of discovery, the experience can be cold. If one is not watching at the very moment that someone toots something, or the moment someone boosts a toot, it can be hard to see/find.
