Reddit's CEO keeps making inapt, inept, and ignorant analogies to describe its users -- especially the moderators, volunteers who have spent countless hours making the site's communities so valuable.

Here's an accurate analogy: Reddit regards these people as replaceable cogs in a machine owned and absolutely controlled by the company.

I won't use Reddit again unless the top management, and its attitudes, are replaced -- with a genuine community focus.

Meanwhile, I'm finding alternatives.

This sort of pathatic nonsense from the CEO is hardly going to encourage people to stay on Reddit,m esp as moderators etc. Here on Fedi those who work tirelessly to run instances and moderate to keep everyone safe, are highly valued and respected.

The CEO of reddit can clearly do a far better job than experienced moderators, so he is welcome to do that, he will soon learn, how much work is involved, the responsibility that come with that and therefore the value of people once they have left with no intention of returning.
