I can see why people want to leave Mastodon. Since one of my posts has gone viral, I have had people tell me what is wrong with it in so many different ways. I’ve been bitched at for using the wrong hashtags. I’ve been bitched at because I didn’t suggest the use of CW‘s.
Totally 👏 not 👏 the 👏 fucking 👏 point 👏 of 👏 the 👏post.
I’ve been having to block so many people who want to gatekeep, police, and God knows what else.
This shit, right here, is why people leave Mastodon.
I agree, I have heard similar stories about people trying toget involved with free softrware projects feeling that they are not only unweelcome but find a very toxic environment.
I try and welcome new users, suggest they can use #hashtags to find people with similar interests. But as a community we really MUST do better to welcome new users but also help them to find what they are looking for here.
