How is that some 100 million Americans refuse to believe what their own eyes saw happening on t.v. on January 6, Nina Burleigh asks?

Her answer: look to people like Peter Thiel and "the well-oiled and oligarch-financed right wing messaging apparatus" his money and that of other super-rich men trying to tear down democracy have set into place to spread disinformation.

Ok as we don't give a damn about being PC here, lets surmise that despite what happened being televised around the world, those who refuse to believe it actually happened are either thick, stupid or both.

@zleap I honestly think more belligerently intent on denying reality — and any connection to a truth shared by others — than thick or stupid.

@wdlindsy

They are dangerous either way, as they seem to be also able to spread this in such a way that others follow this narrative that for example Jan 6 was all a set up and never happened.

Reminds me of Wile-E-Coyote cartoons where he is about to get buried in rocks and just puts up a small cocktail umbrellla as if that is going to protect him, only he still gets buried in rocks.

@zleap Yes, dangerous either way, for sure — but I think the cunning, planned out malicious actions of an ill-intentioned person may ultimately be more dangerous than those of stupid people, especially when that person achieves a position of power.

@wdlindsy

Well lets hope it does not come to trump regaining the white house, as this 100 million will be the first to moan when certain freedoms are removed.
