Ponds, rivers, and lakes all over are getting hit by blooms of blue-green algae.

Agreed, lots of algae in my local park pond, not sure if it is blue / green (need closer look I guess) but it is worrying, but then this is an artificial pond, so the ducks (mallards mostly) don't seem to mind that much.
