I have this odd vision of lord of the rings when Denesal (steward of Gondor) sends Faramir and soldiers back to Osgiliath to retake it. They fail and send just faramir back on a horse.
Later on when Saurons army turns up at the gates of gondor, the goblin king gives the order to 'release the prisoners' and the heads of all the soldiers get fired by catapult in to Minas Tirith.
Or perhaps another part of the story when saurmans army attacks Helms deep and despite outnumbering the humans and elves, end up on the losing side.
I an in NO way comparing Isreal to Sauron of course but your statement just remided me of lord of the rings.
I think in the film wargames professor falcon (who made the AI that powers the new computer that controls the nukes) asks the US general why would the enemy (in this case the USSR) in the film attack you, knowing full well you will do the same to them and wipe them out too, the general is not sure, and is told THEN DON'T
If you have not seen the film the main character has gained access to what he thinks is just a military computer game, which turns out to be the computer, so taking the side of Russia he launches a nuclear strike on the USA, the computer AI thinks it is real, so when the general fails to launch a counter attack, the computer tries to find the launch codes and launch the missiles that way (which would have caused WWIII)
@zleap i remember that film. i might have seen it in the theater.
There is a follow up called the d"ead code" or something, not seen it yet
@zleap i didn't read all of Art of War, but acting exactly like your enemy predicts you will act is a good way to get tripped up by your enemy.
