What would happen if the Palestinian people take up arms and fight back against the IDF, not in direct support of Hamas, but to defend their homes and take revenge for the death and destruction the IDF have caused.
Some have lost entire families so they probably feel they have very little live for and decide if I am gonna die, I want to take as many of the IDF with me as possible.
Truly frightening prospect but I feel that is possible.
@Marypgkeating @susurros @palestine
Indeed, and power and medical supplies.
Just load up tricks and make sure they are CLEARLY marked as humanitarian aid, and go in via the Egypt border,
Just make sure they are also covered in cameras, in side and out and live stream
If Isreal then bonbs clearly marked aid trucks, there is no getting out that these were AID trucks, with food, water, fuel and medical supplies.
Then we send flyers over every single Isreali city with the details so the people know their IDF bombs humanitarian aid
The trucks have been there for hours, they are not allowed in while people are starving inside the gate.
It's that ugly. It's that serious.
@zleap @Marypgkeating @susurros @palestine And then Egypt will not let them cross the border.
Answer me this: Why are the grandchildren of the refuges in Jordan and Lebanon not yet integrated into the societies of these countries? Is that Israel's fault?
@oneiros @zleap @susurros
I don't know, it's not my area of expertise, perhaps a sociologist might be able to help you. Or Google?@palestine
@Marypgkeating @zleap @susurros @palestine Or maybe the surrounding countries don't really care for the Palestinians.
@oneiros @zleap @susurros @palestine
Seems to be a global theme, okay.
@oneiros @zleap @Marypgkeating @susurros @palestine
No, Israel has bombed the Rafah crossing, and threatened to bomb any aid Egypt sends into Gaza.
Palestinians in Jordan have full citizenship and are actually fully integrated, so you couldn't have picked a worse example.
And even in countries that are have fully integrated, you can't violently cleanse your country of a population then why the people you displaced won't just disappear quietly into the populations of those other countries
@zleap@qoto.org @Marypgkeating@mastodon.social @susurros@kolektiva.social @palestine@a.gup.pe The only problem with this is that unfortunately organisations supplying Hamas can also label their trucks as 'aid' or Israel can claim they were. It would need a trustworthy party to actually check in order to be certain they weren't carrying arms.
@alastair @Marypgkeating @susurros @palestine
I understand that, but surely, if the UN put the aid together it will be picked up by a UN agency on the other side.
@zleap@qoto.org @susurros@kolektiva.social @palestine@a.gup.pe I think this has the potential to be at least as bloody as Rwanda in the 1990s. I really hope I'm wrong.
@alastair @zleap @susurros @palestine This is going to be (and already is) awful, and the actions against Israeli civilians last week were horrific, but I think you need to read up on what happened in Rwanda and understand how entirely different that situation was from anything happening here. We seem to be in a cycle of "just mention anything horrible that ever happened and say it's like that" and it is not helpful to anyone.
@richard_merren@mastodon.social @zleap@qoto.org @susurros@kolektiva.social @palestine@a.gup.pe
In the Rwandan genocide around something on the order of 500,000 to 800,000 people died by the hands of other human beings in an ethnic conflict. Thankfully nothing like that has happened here and hopefully never will. I don't know the exact figures but I'm fairly sure the total number killed in all of the conflicts to date in Israel-Palestine is actually less than that (I'm defining that to be since the British protectorate was established).
The crude arithmetic that has me worried this could spiral and kill as many people as Rwanda is simply that there are two million people in Gaza, plans for a concerted military assault based on demands they move when the vast majority can't, the humanitarian situation over food and water and the fact that I fear there are elements in the Israeli government that want them gone (just as Hamas wants Israel gone, but doesn't have a world-class military, thankfully).
Add to that the prospect that other countries in the region could intervene or retaliate and it could spiral.
So no, Rwanda isn't an apt comparison yet, and I hope it doesn't become one, but I don't think a similar loss of life can be ruled out if the situation doesn't cool down. It's very worrying.
@zleap @susurros @palestine they have no arms. They have no armor, they didnt have any military training. They sky is full of circeling drones.... I mean, this suggestion is lacking as much realism as it is lacking respect for the lives of those you suggest to axt in this manner.
I am not suggesting the people may join with Hamas, I am suggesting people may end up picking up weapons and attack any IDF forces if they enter Gaza. Many are in grief, shock and are angry as to what is happening to them.
A weapon could be rocks, metal bars, tools anything that they can use to inflict revenge on the IDF and they are also protecting their homeland.
Sure the IDF will fight back, but the people of Gaza realise they are going to either starve to death, die from lack of water, die from lack of medical care, or perhaps die at th hands of the IDF.
They will protect their land or die trying, similar to the home guard in the UK during WWII they were prepared and willing to die defending the country.
Israel-Hamas war stuff
@zleap @susurros @palestine
They need food and water first.
That's the priority.
