maybe I should get the thingo that replaces the BT module in my X220 with a USB port, then get a USB BT adaptor

Don't want to install windows to flash the BIOS to remove the whitelist
Also none of the BIOS revs for the X220 have secure boot so ehhhhhhh
I may be the only person I know that unironically likes secure boot

@izaya I kinda like it too.
I mean, it's not inherently evil, and in some threat models it can be plenty useful for the user.

@wolf480pl Agreed. When I was first hearing about it, it was through the filter of FOSS people mainly complaining that it made Linux installs harder. I get where they were coming from, but it's not a bad idea and you can generally disable Secure Boot. The rest of it was from the "M$ is evil" camp, so not unbiased about the tech itself.

@2ck @izaya
I learned about secureboot mostly from this blog:
blog.hansenpartnership.com/the
blog.hansenpartnership.com/own

This is the guy behind sbsigntools and efitools (including PreLoader.efi and HashTool.efi).

I'm really glad that someone with this approach was there, figuring out how this stuff works, explaining it, and educating people that it's not necessarily evil.

@wolf480pl @2ck I like that I can somewhat deal with the evil maid scenario - and make my machine a brick if anyone were to steal it.

Not that anyone would steal a 10-year-old ThinkPad, but still.
